About the Artist

Silvia Thornton is a multimediaist who uses a combination of proven skills to bring her works to life. Inherent in her art is an imaginative scope, a bridge between the visual and the felt sense of things. She is a talented artist recognized by her peers and critics alike.

Silvia has been working as an artist in the Dallas-Ft Worth metropolitan area for the past thirty-three years. Her emotional connection to her environmenta stems from experiences during her formative years. She grew up in the dramatic and diverse lush ecosystem of the St. John’s River near St. Augustine,  Florida and the contrasting sparse landscape at the foot of the Superstition Mountains in Arizona.

Her father was a huge influence in her desire to become an artist. He painted sets for Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus in Tampa, Florida.  She can't remember a time when art was not a part of her life. Unlike many of her peers Silvia chose not to get a formal degree in art. Instead she researched artists she admired and studied directly with them. Her influences in art are based on her vast facination with art in history, everyday experiences and her emotional response to these things.
